Faculty Workshops

Dr. Annemarie Vaccaro, will offer a three part workshop series for faculty during the 2017-2018 academic year. The workshop content will be developed in conjunction with Dr. Frances Jones-Sneed and Dr Kerri Nicoll who will have alternative professional responsibilities this year to work on issues of diversity and inclusion as we prepare to search for a Chief Diversity Officer.

Community Workshops

On Friday, September 22, Dr. Vaccaro will also offer two workshops in the morning for MCLA employees. 

8:30 am-10:00 am      Creating Inclusive Services/Offices

The first workshop will be for front line staff in student service offices and their supervisors to provide an introductory overview of inclusion and the myriad of ways you can develop and nurture inclusion in your office environment and daily interactions with students.

10:30 am – 12 noon   Today’s Students: Identity Development and Intersectionality

The second workshop will provide staff from across campus with an overview of college student development today. Dr. Vaccaro, who directs the graduate college student personnel program at URI, will share current research on particular social groups (e.g., students of color, LGBTQ students, religious minorities, women, etc.). She will weave in her own research and seminal scholarship on microaggressions, campus climate, belonging, for diverse student groups.
