MCLA TO PRESENT ANNUAL JAZZ WINTER CONCERT ON MONDAY

NORTH ADAMS, MASS. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announces that the MCLA Jazz Band and MCLA Choir, along with MCLA students who take private lessons, will present the campus’s annual Jazz Winter Concert on Monday, Dec. 10.

This concert, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the MCLA Church Street Center’s Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium, is free and open to the public.

The MCLA Jazz Band and Jazz Choir are directed by Jeff Link, MCLA music instructor, and will be accompanied by Benjamin Kohn, jazz piano instructor.

Musical numbers by the MCLA Jazz Band will include “Mr. PC” by John Coltrane, “Masquerade” by Leon Russell, “Little Sunflower” by Freddy Hubbard, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” by Joe Zawinal, “Nostalgia in Times Square” by Charles Mingus, “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, “Smooth” by Rob Thomas, and “Feel Like Making Love” by Roberta Flack.

The Jazz Choir will perform “You’d Be So Nice to Come Home to,” by Cole Porter, “How High the Moon” by D. Williams, and “Misty” by E. Garner.

Individual vocal performances will include those by AJ Burton ’22, Brandon Butler ’22, Tim Downs ’19, Victoria Gentile ’22, Paige Hudson ’18 (fall), Lydia Jung ’21, Kevin McGrath ’19, Valerie Smalls ’18 (fall) and Braxton Vittori ’19.
