MCLA TO PRESENT ANNUAL WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT THIS MONDAY

Second Winter Concert will be on Dec. 10

NORTH ADAMS, MASS. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announces that the College’s Wind Ensemble, along with private lessons students who attend MCLA, will perform the campus’s annual Classic Winter Concert on Monday, Dec. 3.

This concert, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the MCLA Church Street Center’s Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium, is free and open to the public.

The MCLA Wind Ensemble, directed by Patrick O’Connnell and accompanied by pianist Michael Daunis, will perform songs such as “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridson; “The Wizard of Oz,” arranged by James Barnes; and “Sleigh Ride,” by Leroy Anderson.

Three individual students also will perform pieces, to include Beethoven’s “Sonata in C sharp minor, Op 27, No. 2 (“Moonlight”) / Allegro Sostenuto”; “Gimme, Gimme” from the musical, “Throughly Modern Millie,” by Jeanine Tesori with lyrics Dick Scanlan; and “Habanera,” from the opera “Carmen,” by Georges Bizet.

A second winter concert will take place on Monday, Dec. 10, in the MCLA Church Street Center’s Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium, from 7 to 9 p.m., when the MCLA Jazz Band and MCLA Choir present a performance, along with MCLA students who take private lessons. This concert also will be free and open to the public.
