Safe Zone Training is a program created by the Gay Alliance to develop, enhance and maintain campus communities and workplaces that are culturally competent and inclusive for LGBTQIA+ individuals.  Last year MCLA brought trainers from the Gay Alliance to campus to train faculty, staff and students so they could educate the campus community about LGBTIA+ issues, how to create safe, welcoming offices and spaces, and how to be an Ally to LGBTIA+ individuals.

In 2015-2016 over 100 MCLA community members completed the 2 hour Safe Zone training. We will continue to offer this training several times a month and plan to run another Train-the-Trainer program so these offerings can be expanded.

Safe Zone Training will be offered twice in September:

Tuesday, September 19, 12-2 pm

and

Friday, September 29, 3-5 pm

Both training sessions will take place in Murdock 218.
