Professor lecturing to a crowded auditorium2023-2024 – Call for Abstracts

In 2023-2024, The Mind's Eye will host the fourth Faculty Works-in-Progress Colloquium. This interdisciplinary lecture series is designed to showcase faculty research and/or creative work, foster scholarly community on campus, and model academic excellence to students. Awarded MCLA faculty presenters (up to five) will have the opportunity to share their works-in-progress and benefit from questions and discussion. Each speaker will give a 30-40 minute lecture followed by Q&A. Lectures​ will be open to the public, scheduled throughout the spring semester and held on campus. Each awarded faculty speaker will receive a $250 honorarium.

To apply: 

In a 300-word abstract, describe the subject matter of your proposed lecture and place it within the broader context of your research or creative work. Proposals should explain how giving a lecture will allow you to further develop your work and to what end (i.e. publication, exhibition, performance).

Please send abstracts as PDFs to caren.beilin@mcla.edu & mindseye@mcla.edu by Friday, October 28th. Submissions will be reviewed by Caren Beilin, Interim Director of The Mind’s Eye, and past WiP lecturers. Awardees will be announced in late November.
