Matriculated vs Non-Matriculated

What is the difference between a matriculated or a non-matriculated student and what does that mean for someone who wants to take a course at or through MCLA?

Anyone, regardless of their status, may take courses at MCLA. Undergraduate students can up to 24 credits before they must matriculate into a degree program. Graduate students can take up to six credits.

Matriculated Students - have applied and been accepted to MCLA and are looking to start or complete their degree.

Non-Matriculated Students - take classes but are not part of any degree program.
